The Company

Headquartered in California, Juniper Networks is a world leader in high-performance networking products and services. Founded in 1996, Juniper Networks helps customers build and accelerate business value from their IT infrastructures and stay ahead of the demands posed by the exponential growth in network users and end-points. Today, Juniper Networks has more than 9,300 dedicated employees and offices in 47 countries working with the top 130 global service providers, including 96 of the Global Fortune 100. In the EMEA region Juniper employs approximately 1,000 people from its regional HR in Addlestone, UK.

The Challenge

Juniper Networks had already established resourcing functions in North America, EMEA, India and Asia-PAC. However all of these teams required an immediate augmentation of their delivery capability to deal with the rapid growth that the company was experiencing globally and the ongoing diversification of its products and services. It was also clear that the existing resourcing function required a programme to enable it to source great talent in increasing volumes, within very niche skillsets and demanding geographies.

The existing processes and practices within the resourcing function at Juniper Networks required a re-definition and harmonisation, to ensure that activities were streamlined and consistent across regions. Crucially, Juniper Networks did not want to replace or transfer its existing talent acquisition teams . Instead it was seeking a very flexible partner that could bring genuine delivery capability as well as being able to transfer knowledge and expertise to the in-house function over time.

The Solution

Ochre House (partnering with Pinstripe in the Americas) developed a seamless global solution with embedded onsite teams in the EMEA, Americas and APAC sitting alongside the in-house resourcing functions. These teams facilitate hiring in 27 countries in EMEA and 8 in APAC and provided an immediate resourcing service to Juniper Networks. Working closely with Juniper, we redesigned all of the existing recruitment processes in each region to ensure best practice and implemented a series of candidate attraction activities focusing on better utilisation of the Juniper Networks employer brand.

All of the account teams are engaged in a constant programme of transferring in to Juniper Networks best practice across the resourcing lifecycle. These activities include candidate attraction techniques, use of social media, assessment and selection expertise and the use of dedicated systems to automate core aspects of the process.

The Results

Immediate, appropriate, effective:

  • Recruitment of 180 technical and sales professionals across EMEA , Americas and APAC in the last six months of 2010
  • Streamlining of the offer process reduced the average time to generate a contract of employment from 13.5 working days to 5.5 days
  • Reduction of average time to hire from 90 working days to 55 days within the first 3 months of the partnership
  • 100% candidate satisfaction within the first 6 months of the relationship
  • 100% hiring manager satisfaction by the second quarter
  • Reduction of agency usage to less than 19% after 6 months
  • To further reduce time to hire for business critical roles, such as professional services consultants and systems engineers, a proactive talent planning and pipelining solution has been put in place across EMEA
