Our People

We like to think we’ve created a working environment where ambitious individuals can fulfil their true potential. But do our people agree?

  • Kate Bryan

    Kate Bryan Resourcing Business Partner

After early experience in IT project management Kate transferred into recruitment in the same sector, working both within the agency environment and in-house and joined Ochre House in 2005. Since then she has worked on a wide range of our clients including SAS, Steria, Telefonica and Juniper, as well as on several key internal development projects.

    What she says

"I think one of the reasons that Ochre House and I have got on so well for so long is that I'm the sort of person who picks things up quickly and gets on with the job and that's something that's served me well in such a rapidly evolving business. It's the sort of place where it really pays to be flexible and open-minded because we're always looking for the next angle, the next step forward, the next way of doing things better. The company has come a long way since I joined - there were only 17 of us then, for example, and now we're over 150 people. But the team atmosphere is still the same and I really enjoy it because it's genuinely innovative and exciting. I never expected to stay so long but here I am so I feel it's been a good choice."

  • Chris Barton

    Chris Barton Group Attraction Manager

A graduate of Solent University, Chris initially worked in the insurance industry before joining one of the UK's largest recruitment agencies. In 2007 he joined Ochre House to gain more in-depth exposure to individual clients. In 2010 he moved into his present role looking after all advertising and attraction methodologies employed by Ochre House.

    What he says

"I can honestly say that the decision to join Ochre House was a real turning point in my career. It gave me an absolutely superb boss who knocked all of the new graduate arrogance out of me and turned me into a proper talent management professional capable of working with some of the most ambitious and demanding employers in the UK and continental Europe. It's difficult to say how good my current role is without it starting to sound completely over the top. But it really is a very grown up job where I get to work, not just with the complete spectrum of Ochre House's clients but also with finance, with marketing, with new starters, with the senior management team. It's like being at the absolute centre of everything we do. A company that's doing really well and that's growing all the time, inspirational leaders, an open and honest environment. If you can think of anything else I should be looking for and getting, just let me know!"

  • Gul Bulutoglu

    Gul Bulutoglu Talent Attraction Specialist

A graduate of Reading University, Gul turned from her academic study of philosophy to the world of recruitment, specialising in senior HR appointments at a boutique search firm. After five years she decided to make a move, either in-house or to an RPO provider to broaden her experience and joined the Talent Search Solutions team at Ochre House. She now focuses on the targeting and acquisition of senior level talent across several key disciplines such as sales, risk and IT and has conducted assignments for clients both in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

    What she says

"What attracted me to Ochre House in the first place and what keeps me here is the fact that this is not just a recruitment specialist. It's an organisation that really does partner with its clients to understand exactly what makes them tick and what they need to do in terms of their people agenda to be as efficient and effective as possible. Right from the very start I was taken by just how fast-moving and dynamic an environment this is. People are always on the move, developing new skills and approaches and looking for new challenges and opportunities. So many professional services firms are great at applying their expertise to their clients but fall down when it comes to applying it to themselves. But not Ochre House. All the lessons we learn about how to be the best at talent management are applied to the development of our own people, not just those of our customers."

  • Scott Allan

    Scott Allan Business Analyst

Originally from Perth, Australia, Scott undertook the classic Australian 'walkabout' after university, travelling in Europe before settling in the UK. Based in London, he worked in recruitment for companies in the TV and music industries before joining the HR consultancy team at Ochre House in 2008. Since then he has held a wide range of roles across the organisation in talent management, in business development and now in business solutions.

    What he says

"My current role is an exceptionally wide ranging one as I'm responsible for support and configuration on all the non-core systems employed by the business. It's an ideal job for me because, while I'm by no means a professional 'techy' I'm really interested in how technology can be shaped and deployed to solve clients' problems. What's special about Ochre House is the sheer number of new experiences it offers, opportunities to gain new skills and experience that you simply wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. I'm living proof of that right now, rolling out a systems implementation across numerous countries in a whole range of languages from German and English to Mandarin. You certainly don't have time to get bored with something like that on your plate. Because Ochre House is growing so fast - something like 45% a year - there's always a buzz about the place and new people and new clients to work with. And if you have potential you can bank on it being recognised, because the company needs people who want to move as fast as it does, who want to carve out their own niche and make a real contribution."
